LEADERSHIP:

DAVID E. REEVES, M.E.M., R.E.M. is founding President of Envirinspect, Inc., and also is the founding President of the Green Hospitality Certification division of Envirinspect, Inc., and currently serves as EI's Director of Environmental Compliance. Mr. Reeves is widely regarded as an authority on environmental health and safety; OSHA and EPA regulatory compliance; and sustainability, energy, and resource management, with over 27 years of Washington, D.C. area experience as a consultant, a Federal environmental regulator, and a Congressional lobbyist. Mr. Reeves is a nationally recognized expert on EPA RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations and policy. Prior to joining EI, he served nearly seven years writing environmental regulations for the US Environmental Protection Agency Headquarters in Washington, DC.  Mr. Reeves has extensive experience in both public and private sector consulting, including Fortune 500 clients. He has managed and performed numerous EPA (environmental) and OSHA (occupational health and safety) regulatory compliance and engineering projects for industrial, manufacturing, construction, hospitality, stone fabrication, educational, and retail corporate clients, including preparing permits and written plans, directing and performing over one hundred EPA and OSHA regulatory compliance audits, and conducting hundreds of training sessions in Environmental, Health and Safety topics. Mr. Reeves additionally has performed numerous green certification audits and provided expert sustainability, energy, and resource management consulting services to hospitality industry properties. Mr. Reeves also is the founding President of Eco-Spirit, a nonprofit environmental education organization, and chairs its Board of Directors.  Mr. Reeves is a Registered Environmental Manager (REM #5057) with the National Registry of Environmental Professionals, and he has served on the Board of Directors and was Founding Program Chair of the Nation's Capital Region Chapter of the National Council of Environmental Professionals. Mr. Reeves holds a Masters of Environmental Management (M.E.M.) in Pollution, Toxics, and Waste Management, Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, 1983; and an A.B. in Botany/Ecology, and in English Literature, Duke University, 1980.

GARY MORRIS, M.S., C.S.P., C.I.H. is EI's Director of Occupational Safety and Health and Industrial Hygiene, and is a leading authority in the field, with over 22 years of experience in both the private and public sectors. He has provided comprehensive industrial hygiene and occupational health and safety services to international and U.S. manufacturers, including Fortune 500 companies, involved in light and heavy manufacturing, weapons manufacturing, research and development, electronics manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and biotechnology. Mr. Morris has supervised staff and served as project manager on numerous occupational health and safety and industrial hygiene projects.  His areas of specialty include health and safety auditing, OSHA regulatory compliance assistance, biotechnology, job safety analysis, process safety, industrial hygiene exposure assessments, noise and hearing conservation, ergonomic assessments, indoor air quality investigation and ventilation evaluation, mold investigations, lead and asbestos inspections, and training.  He has written widely used health and safety plans and conducted employee training in the areas of OSHA Hazard Communication/Right-to-Know, Emergency Action, Fire Prevention/ Extinguisher, Lockout/ Tagout, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Forklift Safety, Confined Spaces, Welding Safety, Compressed Gas Safety, Contractor Safety, Job Safety Analysis, Asbestos Awareness, and Bloodborne Pathogens Protection. Mr. Morris has conducted over 100 comprehensive environmental, health and safety audits. He has developed specifications and provided project support for asbestos and lead-based paint abatement projects. Mr. Morris additionally has provided occupational health and safety and industrial hygiene services for the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard, municipal governments, and the University of Maryland. Mr. Morris is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) #8561, American Board of Industrial Hygiene; a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) #15157, Board of Certified Safety Professionals; and a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and the American Society of Safety Engineers. He holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Occupational Health and Safety, 1987, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV;  and a B.S. in Biology, from Fairmont State College, Fairmont, WV, 1985.

MANAGEMENT  PROGRAMS:

RICHARD REIS, P.E., Electronics Engineering (Maryland) is Director of Energy Efficiency at EI's Green Hospitality Certification division, and an expert in electrical energy conservation and renewable energy, with over 38 years experience. Mr. Reis has performed numerous energy audits and provided energy conservation consulting for hospitality and other properties, including utility usage assessment, and energy efficiency evaluation of HVAC systems, appliances, and lighting. He has designed and installed thermal solar systems (hot water heating) in residences and multi-unit buildings, installed solar-powered lighting and vents, and has experience in applying for and being awarded Maryland State solar energy grants. Mr. Reis has considerable experience in analyzing cost-effectiveness and payback times for energy efficiency upgrades. Implementation of his recommendations have resulted in 25% reductions in electricity usage year-over-year for clients. Prior to joining Green Hospitality Certification,  Mr. Reis worked for Verizon Communications as a Senior Systems Engineer on their Team Energy, identifying and implementing energy-saving ideas. He holds an M. S. in  Electronics Engineering, California State University, Northridge, California; an M. S. in Computer Science, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland; a B. E. Engineering Science, State University of New York, Stony Brook, NY. Mr. Reis also is an Adjunct Professor, University of Maryland, University College, College Park, MD, and he serves on the curriculum advisory board for Capitol College in Laurel, Maryland.

JOHN A. FERRI, ARCHITECT-PLANNER, R.A., LEED A.P., is Director of Sustainable Architecture for EI's Green Hospitality Certification division. Mr. Ferri is responsible for research, development and implementation of Sustainable Service offerings that include “Green” Building Needs Assessments, LEED Existing Building & Operations / Maintenance facility certification analysis, Energy Benchmarking and Energy Audits. Client base includes Federal, State, local governmental jurisdictions, institutional and privately held portfolio companies. He has experience with HUD’s Green Retrofit Program and various Subsidizes and Public Housing Authorities. Mr. Ferri has more than 29 years experience in Architecture, Planning and Program/Project Management. He has been retained as either an Architect-Planner or Program/Project Manager for a variety of projects ranging in construction cost from $100,000.00 to $100,000,000.00. Work items were performed under the Standard American Institute of Architects scope: Programming and Validation, Pre-Design, Design Development, Contract Documentation, and Construction Administration. Project Management services such as Value Engineering Analysis, Cost Control, and Time Management through C.P.M. techniques, and Management Information Systems have been utilized. He has been the Master Planner on a number of projects, utilizing New Urbanism techniques. His Project range includes International, Master Planning, Religious / Institutional, Office Buildings, Restaurants, Interior Renovations, Residential, and Construction Management services. His projects have received Local and National Design Awards as well as an Award in Historic Preservation. Mr. Ferri holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, and a Master of City and Regional Planning, both from Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. His thesis for his Masters in City and Regional Planning was “Energy Efficient Planning”. He is a Registered Architect (R.A.) in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Ferri additionally holds a Value Engineering Certification from OICC,Trident Jacksonville, Florida, and he is a LEED Accredited Professional (AP).
